The sociology team of the Open Society Institute – Sofia starts a representative survey as part of the EU project Data Transfer and Exchange of Good Practices regarding the Inclusion of Roma Population between Romania, Bulgaria, Spain and Italy. The survey which will start 10 June 2011 will include 1,100 representatives of the Roma minority, and will consist of qualitative as well as quantitative data analyses. The case study will included both a common and specific components and data from each one of the partnering countries taking part in the project. It will also examine variables related to the Roma migrants in the labor market, and will look at public policies directed to coping with this problem.

 

The project Data Transfer and Exchange of Good Practices regarding the Inclusion of Roma Population between Romania, Bulgaria, Spain and Italy is sponsored by the Soros Foundation – Romania which partners with the Open Society Institute – Sofia, the Roma Secretariat Foundation – Spain and the Angelo Abriani House of Charity – Italy.

 

The goal of the project is the development of partnership and the exchange of good practices in the field of Roma people’s social inclusion, their inclusion in the European labor market and the increase in the capacity of Roma integration organizations in Romania, Bulgaria, Spain and Italy through exchange of information, knowledge and experience. The project will last 2 years – from September 2010 until September 2012 – and will be part of the European Social Fund’s 2007-2013 funding cycle under the sectoral Investing in People human resource development program.
